The Opportunity

Are you a talented Senior Ecologist with a passion for delivering high-quality environmental projects?

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Ecologist to join our growing ecology team at Ryan Hanley, now part of Stantec. You will play a key role in leading ecological inputs across a wide range of infrastructure and development projects, with excellent opportunities to develop your career both technically and professionally.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and delivering ecological surveys, impact assessments, and reporting (including EcIA, AA Screening, NIS, and EIAR inputs).

  • Mentoring junior ecologists and supporting team development.

  • Providing expert ecological advice during project design, construction, and operation phases.

  • Liaising with clients, regulators, and multidisciplinary project teams.

  • Undertaking site visits, field surveys, and overseeing subcontractors as required.

  • Supporting project scoping, programming, tender inputs, and fee proposals.

About You

You are an experienced ecology professional with a strong background in ecological assessment and environmental legislation in Ireland, including the Habitats and Birds Directives. You have proven experience delivering complex ecological projects, managing workloads, and engaging effectively with clients and stakeholders. With excellent report-writing, organisational, and leadership skills, you are comfortable working independently while contributing to multidisciplinary teams. You are passionate about biodiversity, sustainability, and delivering high-quality environmental outcomes.
