ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Principal Water Network Modeller, you will provide technical leadership across a broad range of water network modelling projects, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality solutions for our clients. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, oversee technical governance and help drive innovation across our modelling capability.

Your work will include leading projects focused on network optimisation, leakage and pressure management, network rehabilitation, smart network operations and long-term investment planning. You will also contribute to business development activities, support project planning and mentor engineers across the team, helping to develop the next generation of technical specialists.

Your expertise will help water companies make informed decisions that improve network resilience, reduce water loss and ensure reliable water supplies for millions of customers. Through innovative modelling approaches and advanced data analytics, you'll support sustainable investment strategies that deliver long-term environmental and operational benefits.

Beyond project delivery, you'll play a key role in strengthening our technical capability by mentoring colleagues, embedding best practice and driving the adoption of new digital technologies. Your leadership will help shape the future of our water network modelling team while reinforcing Stantec's reputation as a trusted partner across the UK water sector.

ABOUT YOU

Essential

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience delivering water network modelling projects.
  • Strong knowledge of industry-standard modelling software such as InfoWorks WS Pro, InfoWater Pro, Synergi Water or equivalent.
  • Experience leading technical delivery across complex modelling programmes.
  • Strong understanding of network optimisation, leakage management and pressure management.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience mentoring and developing technical teams.

Desirable

  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards Chartership.
  • Experience using GIS platforms such as ArcGIS.
  • Experience with advanced data analytics, water balance studies or digital solutions.
  • Experience working on UK regulated water company frameworks.
