The Opportunity

Stantec are recruiting for a Senior Financial Accounting position within the financial reporting team, with responsibility for external financial reporting, statutory accounts preparation and coordination of the statutory audit. The role serves as a key point of contact for external auditors, ensuring audit queries and deliverables are addressed accurately and promptly, while maintaining compliance with IFRS, applicable UK reporting standards and internal accounting policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial report preparation for Statutory accounts.
  • Primary point of contact with the external auditors during audit, assisting and providing the necessary information.
  • Preparation of financial accounting papers to support he external audit of significant accounting matters arising during the financial year.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving any variances.
  • Responsible for month end journals and tasks.
  • Ensure that all journals and reconciliations are prepared under IFRS and in line with Stantec’s internal SOX controls.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarter end packs.
  • Preparing financial information to be used in reports or for bids.
  • Liaise with corporate finance team.
  • Supervision and oversight of Financial Accountants and Assistant Financial Accountants where required.

Experience and qualifications.

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • Proven background of experience in accounting or finance.
  • Strong statutory reporting experience including preparation of UK Financial Statements under UK GAAP, FRS101 and FRS102.
  • Good technical accounting knowledge including IFRS reporting.
  • Proficiency with accounting software.
  • Exceptional time management and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to apply accounting principles.
  • Professional manner and a strong ethical code.
  • Ability to multitask and remain motivated and positive.
  • Commitment to working efficiently and accurately.
