The Opportunity

Do you have a passion for environmental issues and a proven track record in leading Environmental Planning and Impact Assessment (EIA) projects?

We are seeking a Director of Environmental Planning and Impact Assessment to join our Environmental Planning team. In this leadership role, you will play a pivotal role in driving excellence in environmental planning and impact assessment services across all UK&I sectors. This role can be based in any Stantec UK office.

The Opportunity

As Environmental Planning and Impact Assessment Director , you will:

  • Lead and shape the future of Stantec's EIA business and capability, providing technical oversight, guidance, and expert advice to clients.
  • Lead and provide expert advice on environmental assessments for your own projects and support colleagues.
  • Ensure technical excellence in EIA, including developing internal standards and providing coaching and training.
  • Contribute to business development by working with the marketing team to showcase Stantec's EIA capabilities.
  • Oversee compliance of advice and assessment approaches with legislation and policy.
  • Support the development of new service lines related to environmental assessment.
  • Secure repeat business through your established technical expertise.
  • Contribute to pitches and proposals, leading on environmental assessment strategy.
  • Act as an arbiter for quality control (QC) issues.
  • Contribute to national and regional strategies and business development.
  • Provide career development guidance and support team members in achieving their full potential.
  • Recruit at a national scale and collaborate with cross-discipline teams.
  • Promote learning and development opportunities.
  • Build Stantec's Technical Brand through thought leadership activities.
  • Collaborate with specialists across Stantec's global network.

Who We Are Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A relevant degree and membership of a professional institution.
  • Experience in a Director-level role within a consultancy or relevant industry sector.
  • A mix of real estate and energy/infrastructure EIA experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of the UK planning system, including both Town & Country Planning and Development Consent Order regimes.
  • Strong EIA lead consultant experience.
  • Excellent communication and commercial skills.
  • The ability to set strategy, scope, and price consultancy work.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills.
  • Willingness to travel nationally where required.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
