The Opportunity

Scottish Water is about to invest £8.1bn in its network, the biggest programme in its history. Stantec is one of just two Primary Designers chosen to deliver it.

This landmark partnership, which potentially extends to 2039, secures meaningful work across our Scottish offices. Not one project. Not one framework cycle. A pipeline of water and wastewater schemes that will shape how Scotland lives for a generation. This major framework success anchors our exceptional performance across the UK for the AMP8 regulatory cycle, where we have secured exciting new project wins and solidified our standing as the number 1 design consultancy in the regulated water sector.

We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support our growth plans.

About the Role

You will deliver high-quality electrical and EICA designs across a diverse portfolio of water and wastewater infrastructure projects for Scottish Water, taking ownership of design packages from concept through to construction support. The role is based in our Edinburgh or Glasgow office with flexible hybrid working.

You will undertake electrical and EICA design across infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects, including treatment works, pumping stations, and associated assets, ensuring design quality, compliance, and technical accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.

You will develop, review, and verify key engineering deliverables including Single Line Diagrams, Block Cable Diagrams, Network Infrastructure Diagrams, technical specifications, and control philosophies, collaborating closely with project managers, clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams.

You will also help guide early-career engineers, share technical knowledge across the discipline, and champion innovation and best practice in Electrical Engineering.

Your Impact

Your technical expertise will directly support the delivery of essential water infrastructure across Scotland, helping clients improve resilience, enhance environmental performance, and meet ambitious sustainability targets. The solutions you deliver will contribute to reliable water services for communities while supporting the transition towards a more sustainable future.

Beyond project delivery, you will play a key role in supporting engineering quality, guiding developing talent, and contributing to the continued growth of Stantec's Water business across Scotland.

About You

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or actively working towards professional registration.

  • Established experience delivering electrical or EICA design within the water, utilities, or heavy infrastructure sectors.

  • Proven ability to take ownership of technical design packages across complex multidisciplinary projects.

  • Sound knowledge of electrical engineering standards, design software, and UK regulatory frameworks.

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and client-facing skills.

  • Experience supporting or mentoring graduate and junior engineers.
