The Opportunity

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Project Accounts Assistant to join our Finance team in Ireland. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall financial management of an assigned portfolio of projects throughout their life cycle, ensuring projects are accurately set up, maintained, invoiced and closed out in accordance with contractual requirements and Stantec’s financial controls, policies and practices.

Working closely with Project Managers, Project Manager Assistants and Finance colleagues, you will play a key role in maintaining the financial integrity and performance of projects. You will provide financial insight and support to project teams, helping them understand project performance, revenue and cost recognition, billing, work in progress and accounts receivable.

The role will also support the Financial Controller with a range of finance and accounting activities, providing an excellent opportunity to develop your project accounting experience within a global engineering and professional services organisation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Finance

  • Take ownership of an assigned portfolio of projects, ensuring accurate project setup, financial transactions, budgets, billing rates and revenue recognition in line with Stantec policies, contractual requirements and internal controls.

  • Partner closely with Project Managers and Project Manager Assistants to monitor project financial performance, including EACs, revenue and cost recognition, WIP, credit risk and overall project integrity.

  • Coordinate the preparation and issue of client invoices, ensuring accuracy, compliance with contractual terms and appropriate billing documentation, while supporting accounts receivable and collections activities.

  • Provide financial support to Project Managers on activities including subcontractor tracking, progress reporting, client audits, financial analysis, write-offs, aged WIP and other ad hoc project finance requirements.

  • Ensure effective project administration throughout the project lifecycle, including budget changes, CRAM and rate table maintenance, collaboration with the RNet Finance team, and timely project close-out.

  • Maintain strong working relationships with Project Management and Finance teams, providing a high level of customer service while ensuring all activities are completed accurately and in accordance with Stantec’s financial policies, controls and systems.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A competent level of project accounting knowledge gained through relevant experience and/or education.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a structured, organised approach to work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong customer service focus and the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work effectively to deadlines.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively as part of a wider team.
  • A willingness to adapt, embrace change and learn new processes and systems.
  • Knowledge of general contracting practices.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams and Outlook.
  • Experience with Oracle is advantageous.
