The Opportunity

As the UK water sector continues to invest in improving environmental performance and the resilience of wastewater networks, there is growing demand for skilled Urban Drainage Modellers. At Stantec, our teams use hydraulic modelling and digital solutions to help clients understand network performance and develop practical responses to challenges such as flooding, storm overflows and water quality.

We are looking for an Urban Drainage Modeller to join our Southern teams in High Wycombe or Reading. You’ll become part of a supportive and technically strong environment, working alongside experienced modellers, engineers and environmental specialists across a wide range of projects.

This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your career within urban drainage modelling, building on your existing experience while gaining exposure to major UK water programmes and contributing to projects with real environmental and community benefits.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As an Urban Drainage Modeller, you’ll play an important role in the delivery of modelling activities across wastewater and urban drainage projects, taking responsibility for your own technical work while working closely with experienced colleagues and multidisciplinary teams.

You will:

  • Deliver urban drainage and wastewater modelling studies across UK water projects.
  • Develop, update and maintain hydraulic models using InfoWorks ICM.
  • Undertake modelling assessments covering storm overflows, flooding, water quality and network performance.
  • Analyse and interpret modelling results to help identify practical engineering solutions in response to client and project requirements.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations and other project deliverables to a high standard.
  • Work closely with modellers, engineers, environmental specialists and digital teams across multidisciplinary projects.
  • Contribute to project meetings, site visits and technical workshops where appropriate.
  • Take ownership of your technical tasks and continue developing your understanding of industry standards, modelling techniques and best practice.

YOUR IMPACT

Your work will help our clients understand how their wastewater networks operate and identify opportunities to improve performance and environmental outcomes. The modelling you deliver will contribute to projects addressing water quality, storm overflow impacts, flooding and the long-term resilience of wastewater infrastructure across the South of England.

As part of Stantec’s wider Urban Drainage Modelling community, you’ll have the opportunity to broaden your technical experience across a range of modelling studies, contribute new ideas and develop your career within a growing and collaborative team.
