The Opportunity

Stantec are going through an exciting time with significant growth in our water sector and we are currently seeking a Principal Structural Engineer that may be interested in joining us in the coming weeks and months.

As a member of our Structural Engineering team based in Manchester, you will take on a visible leadership role in the delivery of high-quality structural engineering projects across the water and buildings sectors. You will provide technical direction to engineers and technicians within a small local team, coordinating inputs, reviewing outputs and helping to develop the capability of the group as workload and opportunities continue to grow.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced structural engineer who wants to move beyond individual project delivery and take a more influential role in shaping a growing team. You will support the local delivery of internal opportunities in Water, contribute to Building Structures projects, and play an active part in the continued development of our Manchester structural engineering capability.

This role will be based in Manchester City Centre - with hybrid working between office and home.

In this role, you will lead and oversee the delivery of structural engineering design for concrete, steel and masonry structures, providing technical direction, quality assurance and day-to-day leadership to engineers and technicians within the local team. You will support staff development through mentoring, workload planning and technical review, helping individuals build confidence and capability as the Manchester team continues to grow.

You will also contribute to the wider development of the local structural engineering capability, including supporting recruitment, team management and the establishment of a sustainable delivery model. In addition, you will guide and review structural inspections and reporting, ensuring that recommendations for asset maintenance and modification are technically robust, clearly communicated and aligned with client and regulatory requirements.
