The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic early career Geoenvironmental Consultant within our infrastructure and environment team in Southampton.

Our team provides contaminated land and ground engineering services to the both the infrastructure and buildings sector. We work holistically with diverse teams to provide high-quality, value-driven services that support the construction and redevelopment of sites within the South East region

About The Role:

Your day-to-day tasks will involve a mix of field and office-based work, with a strong initial focus on site-based work. You will supervise field investigations for contaminated sites and geotechnical sites. This includes overseeing drilling, well construction, testing, and conducting groundwater sampling and water level monitoring along with ground gas monitoring. Following this fieldwork, you will prepare high-quality interpretive technical reports. While the balance between site and office work will vary over time, the initial workload is expected to be primarily site-based.

Your Impact:

In this role, you will play a key part in delivering high-quality geo-environmental and geotechnical projects from the ground up. A significant proportion of your time will be spent on site initially, supervising ground investigations and ensuring works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with technical requirements. You will oversee activities such as drilling operations, well installation, sampling, and monitoring of groundwater and ground gas, acting as the key point of contact for contractors and supporting smooth day-to-day delivery.

Beyond the fieldwork, you will translate site data into clear, insightful technical outputs that support project decision-making. This includes preparing detailed interpretive reports and desk studies that align with relevant British Standards, industry guidance, and client expectations. Over time, you will continue to build strong relationships with clients and subcontractors while taking ownership of assignments, combining technical rigour with a proactive, solutions-focused approach to ensure high standards of delivery throughout each project lifecycle.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will need the following:

  • Post-graduate experience in a geo-environmental industry.
  • Experience working for a Contractor and/or geotechnical/Geoenvironmental experience would also be highly desirable.
  • Good working knowledge of relevant and up to date British Standards (eg BS EN 5930), Industry Guidance (eg EA LC:RM) and NHBC Standards.
  • Supervision, reporting and management of geo-environmental assignments.
  • Monitoring of gas and groundwater levels and groundwater sampling.
  • Liaison with sub-contractors and clients assisting in the delivery of projects.
  • Technical report writing (including Desk Studies).
  • Strong commitment to Health and Safety and environmental protection during ground investigations.
  • Self-motivated team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive and independent thinker with an enthusiastic approach to work.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications:
