The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join us in Manchester. We are looking for someone with expertise in civil engineering design to deliver multi-disciplinary projects for the entire lifecycle – from feasibility, concept and planning submission through to construction details and site inspections.

Our projects are varied and frequently require collaboration with multiple discipline experts across the business.

The successful candidate will take the lead of the development of civil engineering planning and design solutions, prepare plans and drawings at all stages of the development cycle and the design of earthworks, internal site roads, pavements and drainage design.

You will work with clients and contractors to influence infrastructure and development schemes and will be responsible for delivering projects with the opportunity to lead, development and support more junior team members.

As a key member if our Infrastructure team, your role will involve the following:

  • Leading on the development of civil engineering planning and design solutions
  • Preparing plans and drawings at all stages of the development cycle (concept through to construction)
  • Design of Earthworks, internal site roads, Pavement and Drainage and the preparation of the associated specifications
  • Working with clients and contractors to influence infrastructure and development schemes
  • Project delivery management including leading and developing team members
  • Ensuring high quality delivery in design through QA checks
  • Liaise with Local Authorities and other stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals
  • Delegating and supervising work of more junior team members and acting as a coach
  • Liaise with clients, third party bodies and multi-disciplinary teams and disciplines on all relevant aspects of projects

Key Requirements:

You will be an experienced Civil Engineer, preferably degree qualified.  You will have or be working towards professional qualifications.

You will have proven experience of delivering commercially successful projects with strong client engagement skills and the ability to influence. You will preferably have experience in coaching and managing junior engineers as well as the ability to collaborate with the wider project delivery team.

You will also have experience in:

  • The production of Drainage Strategies for Planning
  • Sustainable drainage solutions for building developments
  • Earthworks modelling (or have an interest in learning)
  • Pavement design (or have an interest in learning)
  • Infodrainage and AutoCAD/Civils 3d (or equivalent)
