The Opportunity

As we continue to expand our Digital Engineering capabilities across our Energy & Resources business, we are seeking an experienced Principal BIM/CAD Manager to lead the development, governance and continuous improvement of BIM and CAD standards across the UK. This is a strategic leadership role with the opportunity to influence how digital delivery is implemented across some of the most significant infrastructure projects in the UK and internationally, spanning Hydropower & Dams, Transmission & Distribution, Renewable Energy, Nuclear, Waste & Generation, and Minerals & Resources.

Working within a business renowned for technical excellence and innovation, you will help shape the future of digital delivery, supporting our commitment to high-quality project outcomes and continued advancement of BIM, Information Management and 3D modelling capabilities in line with ISO 19650.

About the Role

As Principal BIM/CAD Manager, you will provide technical and strategic leadership across our UK business and global design centres, ensuring the consistent application of BIM and CAD standards across multiple disciplines and software platforms.

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining digital delivery standards, overseeing BIM and CAD governance, and coordinating modelling activities between UK teams and our offshore design centre in Pune. Alongside leading a team of BIM professionals and 3D modellers, you will support projects throughout the entire lifecycle, from bid and mobilisation through to delivery and close-out.

The role will involve developing and managing BIM Execution Plans, Master Information Delivery Plans and Task Information Delivery Plans, ensuring alignment with Exchange Information Requirements and project objectives. Working closely with Information Management teams, you will establish and improve Common Data Environments, digital workflows, standards and procedures that support efficient project delivery and compliance with ISO 19650.

You will also provide guidance and assurance throughout project delivery, supporting design teams with reviews, quality checks, information management processes and the effective use of digital tools and technologies.

Your Impact

You will play a pivotal role in advancing digital delivery across our Energy & Resources business, helping to embed best practice in BIM, CAD and information management across a diverse portfolio of projects. Through your leadership, you will drive consistency, quality and innovation, ensuring teams can collaborate effectively and deliver industry-leading digital solutions for our clients.

By influencing stakeholders, mentoring colleagues and championing new approaches, you will help build a culture of digital excellence that enhances project performance and supports the continued growth of our BIM capabilities both within the UK and across our global teams. Your work will directly contribute to the successful delivery of critical infrastructure projects that support the transition to a more sustainable future.

About You

You will have a degree in Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline, together with extensive experience delivering BIM and CAD solutions across complex multidisciplinary projects. Experience within the Energy, Utilities or Renewable Energy sectors would be advantageous.

You will bring a strong understanding of digital delivery and information management, including experience working within Common Data Environments such as Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), BIM360 and/or ProjectWise, and a proven track record of delivering projects in accordance with ISO 19650 standards.

You will have extensive experience using Autodesk and Bentley design platforms, a detailed understanding of BIM Execution Plans and information delivery processes, and a strong appreciation of how digital technologies can improve project outcomes. Experience of computational or parametric design would be beneficial, although an interest in developing expertise in this area would also be welcomed.

Equally important will be your ability to lead and develop others. You will be an effective communicator, capable of engaging with clients, business leaders, project teams and global delivery centres, and have experience mentoring and supporting junior team members. Most importantly, you will be a passionate advocate for digital delivery who can inspire others, drive adoption, and help shape the future of BIM across our business.
